The Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha and Bethsaida are neighbouring sites on the north‑western shore of the Sea of Galilee. The Sea of Galilee, also called Lake Kinneret, is the lowest freshwater lake on Earth and the beating heart of Jesus’ Galilean ministry. Capernaum lies on the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel. In the first century it was a bustling fishing town on the Via Maris trade route, home to about 1,500 people. Nazareth is more than a town in the Holy Land, it is the place where heaven touched earth through the angel’s greeting to Mary.
