Madonna of the Streets

The full-color image is inspired by Italian artist Roberto Ferruzzi’s Madonnina, painted in 1897. The tender composition of a young woman holding a sleeping child later became widely reproduced and embraced as a devotional image of the Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus, becoming popularly known as the Madonna of the Streets.
