PRODUCT INFORMATION

Handcrafted from genuine Holy Land olive wood, this Holy Land Olive Wood Rosary with Wooden St. Benedict Crucifix brings together warm oval olive wood beads, dark brown knotted cord, St. Benedict medal markers, a full St. Benedict centerpiece, and a distinctive wooden St. Benedict crucifix. Measuring approximately 18.9in (48cm) and weighing 0.9oz (25g), with 7mm olive wood beads, this rosary is made for daily Catholic prayer, devotion to Saint Benedict, and meaningful Christian gifting.

Holy Land Olive Wood Rosary Craftsmanship

This handmade rosary is strung on a durable dark brown knotted cord, chosen to complement both the warm honey tones of the olive wood beads and the darker wooden crucifix. The oval olive wood beads show natural grain striping and slight variation in tone, giving every rosary its own individual character.

Unlike chain rosaries with metal links between every bead, this design keeps the construction warm and organic: olive wood, knotted cord, silver-tone St. Benedict medals, and a wooden crucifix. The result is a prayerful rosary with a grounded Holy Land character and a strong Benedictine identity.

St. Benedict Medal Markers Throughout the Rosary

Each Our Father position is marked with a small silver-tone St. Benedict Medal, placing the Benedictine protection tradition throughout the full five-decade rosary. The traditional CSND SMDVRS cross grid is visible on the medal faces, connecting each decade to the long-standing devotion of the Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti.

This repeated St. Benedict presence makes the rosary especially meaningful for Catholics devoted to Saint Benedict, spiritual perseverance, protection, and faithful prayer.

Full St. Benedict Centerpiece

The large round centerpiece is a full St. Benedict Medal. One side shows Saint Benedict holding the cross and the Rule, with the traditional inscription around the rim. The reverse carries the familiar Vade Retro Satana formula, one of the most recognized prayers connected to the St. Benedict Medal.

Together with the St. Benedict medal markers and the St. Benedict crucifix, the centerpiece gives the rosary a rich and consistent devotional identity from the first bead to the final cross.

Wooden St. Benedict Crucifix

The rosary is completed with a dark brown wooden St. Benedict crucifix. The front features a silver-tone corpus of Christ, an INRI plaque, and a St. Benedict medal integrated into the center of the cross. The reverse side carries a full St. Benedict medal image set into the wood, showing the saint with the cross and Rule.

This double-sided crucifix is the defining feature of the rosary. It combines the natural warmth of wood with the devotional symbolism of the St. Benedict Medal, creating a strong visual and spiritual finish to the strand.

Bethlehem Olive Wood & Holy Land Connection

Olive wood has been shaped by Christian artisans in Bethlehem and throughout the Holy Land for generations. Its natural grain, biblical symbolism, and connection to Christian pilgrimage make it one of the most meaningful materials used in Catholic rosaries, crucifixes, and devotional gifts.

This rosary combines Holy Land olive wood craftsmanship with the spiritual tradition of Saint Benedict, creating a lasting prayer companion for those who value both authentic origin and devotional meaning.

Catholic Prayer, St. Benedict Devotion & Christian Gifting

This Holy Land Olive Wood Rosary with Wooden St. Benedict Crucifix is suitable for daily Rosary prayer, personal devotion, spiritual reflection, and devotion to Saint Benedict. Its combination of olive wood beads, St. Benedict medal markers, a full Benedict centerpiece, and a wooden Benedict crucifix makes it one of the most complete St. Benedict rosaries in our collection.

It makes a thoughtful Christian gift for Confirmation, RCIA, ordination, monastic profession, Lent, Advent, Easter, birthdays, pilgrimage remembrance, or anyone with a special devotion to Saint Benedict. It may also be brought to a priest for blessing before devotional use.

Care Instructions

Wipe the olive wood beads and wooden crucifix gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid prolonged soaking, perfumes, oils, harsh cleaning products, or excessive moisture, as these may affect the wood, cord, and metal components over time. Store your rosary in a pouch or box when not in use to help protect the beads, medals, centerpiece, and crucifix.

Handmade Rosary from Bethlehem Olive Wood

Olive wood has long been part of Christian devotion, especially around Bethlehem, where the trees grow slowly across the hills of the Holy Land. The grain shifts naturally from bead to bead, giving each handmade olive wood rosary its own warmth and character.

Every rosary in this collection is shaped, drilled, and assembled by Christian artisans in Bethlehem, often in family workshops that have practised the craft for generations. Each bead is sanded and finished by hand, with tones ranging from soft honey to deeper amber. Some designs are finished with a simple olive wood cross, while others include a crucifix or devotional centrepiece.

An olive wood rosary is made to be prayed often — kept beside a bed, carried in a pocket, or held quietly during daily prayer. For many Catholics, a handmade rosary from Bethlehem remains one of the most meaningful Christian gifts connected to faith, pilgrimage, and tradition.

FAQ - Olive Wood
Rosaries from the Holy Land

Is each olive wood rosary unique?

Yes. Olive wood has too much grain character to produce identical beads. Two rosaries strung side by side will show different tones, different patterns, and small markings in the wood.

Where are these rosaries made?

In small Christian workshops in and around Bethlehem. The artisans are local Christians, often working alongside family members in workshops that have practised the craft for generations.

Can it be prayed every day?

That's what it's made for. Olive wood is durable and only deepens in tone with handling. Many people find their rosary becomes almost broken-in after months of daily prayer.

Is it suitable as a First Communion or Confirmation gift?

Very much so. Olive wood rosaries from Bethlehem are among the most common Catholic gifts for both sacraments. The natural material feels appropriate for a child or young person beginning a lifelong practice.

How should I care for an olive wood rosary?

Avoid prolonged water exposure and long stretches in direct sunlight. A soft cloth handles everyday cleaning. If the wood ever looks dry after years of use, a small amount of natural oil restores the warmth of the grain.

Will the wood change colour over time?

Yes, gradually. The beads you pray most often will deepen slightly in tone, which is part of how a rosary becomes personal. Does buying one support local artisans? Yes. Every rosary supports Christian artisan families in Bethlehem, where this craft remains a primary livelihood for many.
