This Our Lady of Guadalupe olive wood holy water font combines Marian devotion with craftsmanship from the Holy Land. Handmade in Bethlehem, it measures approximately 4.1 × 2.8 in (10.5 × 7 cm) and features a full-color image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a small 0.17 fl oz (5 ml) holy water basin, and two sealed capsules containing a dried Holy Land rose petal and Franciscan incense. A Bethlehem label completes the front, while two magnets on the reverse allow it to be displayed on a suitable metal surface.
Our Lady of Guadalupe
The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is one of the best-known Marian images in Catholic devotion. It is associated with the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Saint Juan Diego at Tepeyac, near present-day Mexico City, in 1531. According to Catholic tradition, Mary's image appeared on Juan Diego's tilma after he presented roses to Bishop Juan de Zumárraga as a sign of the apparition.
This font depicts Our Lady in her familiar blue-green mantle and rose-colored gown, surrounded by rays of light with an angel beneath her. Her feast is celebrated on December 12, and devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe is especially important throughout Mexico and the Americas.
A Small Holy Water Font for the Home
The silver-tone basin at the bottom holds approximately 0.17 fl oz (5 ml) of holy water. Its compact size makes this holy water font suitable for a prayer corner, bedroom, hallway, or entrance to the home, where holy water may be kept for making the sign of the cross and personal devotional use.
Sometimes searched for as a holy water holder or holy water fountain, this traditional Christian devotional object combines a functional holy water basin with the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe in one compact piece.
Holy Land Rose Petal & Franciscan Incense
Two small gold-tone sealed capsules appear beneath the image. One contains a dried rose petal from the Holy Land, while the other contains Franciscan incense.
The rose is particularly meaningful alongside Our Lady of Guadalupe because roses form an important part of the traditional account of the apparitions to Saint Juan Diego. Here, the rose petal also creates a physical connection with the Holy Land and the wider tradition of Marian devotion.
Handmade in Bethlehem
The font is handmade in Bethlehem from olive wood, with the natural grain and tonal variations of the wood remaining visible around the devotional image. Because olive wood varies naturally, each piece may differ slightly in grain and appearance.
A small Bethlehem label on the front identifies its Holy Land connection, bringing together a devotion beloved throughout the Americas with Christian craftsmanship from the city of the Nativity.
Magnetic Display
Two round magnets are fitted into the reverse, allowing the font to attach to a suitable magnetic metal surface such as a refrigerator or steel cabinet. This removable mounting makes it easy to reposition while keeping the font accessible for everyday devotional use.
A Marian Gift from the Holy Land
This Our Lady of Guadalupe holy water font makes a meaningful Catholic gift for house blessings, housewarmings, Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Christmas, Marian devotion and the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It is especially fitting for devotees of Our Lady of Guadalupe and for Catholic families who wish to keep a small holy water font in the home.
